About the OBS Settings Generator
What This Tool Does
The OBS Settings Generator is a free calculator that solves the most common problem for new streamers: "What settings should I use?" Instead of guessing your encoder presets, bitrate, and resolution, this tool analyzes your specific hardware (GPU/CPU) and internet upload speed to give you a tailored configuration.
Who This Tool Is For
This calculator is perfect for:
- Beginners: Who are overwhelmed by the hundreds of options in OBS Studio.
- Troubleshooters: Who are experiencing lag, dropped frames, or blurry streams and want a "safe" baseline.
- Platform Switchers: Moving from Twitch (6000 Kbps cap) to YouTube (High Bitrate support).
Why Hardware Matters
OBS video encoding is heavy work. If you have an NVIDIA card, you should almost always use the NVENC encoder. It uses a dedicated physical chip on your graphics card to do the video processing, leaving your main GPU power free for gaming. This tool prioritizes NVENC whenever available.
How to Use These Settings
- Select your GPU: Choose NVIDIA, AMD, or CPU (x264).
- Enter Upload Speed: Result from a speed test (e.g., speedtest.net).
- Choose Platform: Twitch, YouTube, Kick, etc.
- Click Generate: Get your optimal settings.
- Apply in OBS: Go to Settings > Output > Streaming and copy the values exactly.
The "Quality Priority" Explaination
We offer three modes:
- Performance: Uses faster presets (e.g., P1/P2 for NVENC, veryfast for x264). Best for older PCs or competitive gaming where FPS matters most.
- Balanced: The sweet spot. Good quality, reasonable usage.
- Quality: Uses slower presets (P6/P7, slow). Visuals look amazing, but it uses more system resources.
